It's Race Day!!!

Look at that race face! Aren't you intimidated by the look in his eyes. Eli was ready to shred the competition! He had been looking forward to racing for weeks and the time had finally arrived!
Eli named his car "Old Truck." He made this car completely by himself! He drew the design, cut it out, painted it and hammered on the wheels. He had a fabulous time at the Pinewood Derby. He only won one race, had one really close tie, but was such a good sport. He made sure to shake each boys hand after the race to show his good sportsman's ship. He is already planning what he will do next year to make it better.
Our Primary President went all out to make this derby one to remember. She had the track lined with cones and marked off with tape. There was a waiting area where the boys stood, getting their engines ready of course. So much work went into making each boy really feel like a Nascar racer. Pit passes, spotlit entry, Eli loved it!

OK I told Eli it doesn't look like he is so happy here. He tells me that he was trying to make a tough guy face and it has nothing to do with just losing! When I ask him how he thought it went he is nothing but smiles and is so excited for next year. It is really all he can think about and it has been a week already!
